New lions move into the area!
Last week Lion Guardian Ritei reported that lions had been walking very close to his boma. I set off at once to drop off a receiver to him so that he could go tracking and find out whether these were collared lions, or some new ones to the area.
After a long follow up, and many hours tracking, he confirmed that they are not any of our study animals. He promised to keep track of them until we could come and help him investigate further, and maybe one of them could join our collared lions. The Guardians really like it when they get to help with lion trapping and collaring. It is great to see lions up close! Here is Olubi with one of the lion when he was helping to collar it.
that’s great! both for the guardians as well as for the lion’s population there!
